The
Board of Social Work Examiners is staffed by the Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing. The board consists of four
clinical social workers and one public member. Board
members
are appointed by the
governor and confirmed by the Legislature.
The board adopts regulations
to carry out laws governing the practice of social
work
in Alaska. It makes final licensing decisions and takes
disciplinary actions against people who violate
licensing
laws. The board meets a minimum of twice a year and offers a public comment period at each meeting.
Meeting agendas and
minutes are available from the licensing examiner.
| Please Note: The licensing process may take up to three months or longer after all information is received, depending on the date of the board meeting.
Supervision Notice: If you are a clinical social worker supervising counselors for their licensure hours, be aware that, if you have not applied to the Board of Professional Counselors and been approved as a counselor supervisor, the hours will not be accepted by that Board. For more information see the Board of Professional Counselors'
